On 21 February ’09(Saturday), my entire English classmate and I went to Starbucks to hear the explanation about Starbucks. After I came to Malaysia, this was the second time I went to starbucks. At first, I think that just a coffee, why so expensive? Coffee is one of my favorite drinks. I never think that a cup of coffee they charged me 12 rm. But, after I heard the explanation, I knew the value of Starbucks coffee and why many people still like it even though it is expensive.
In here, I will talk some my experience at Starbucks that happened on Saturday.
Actually this is group works to hear the explanation from the real lecture. We need to take notes, records, and take picture about what happened at Starbucks. After that we need to make it into a journal. So, at first, I feel so frustrated, need to take notes, need to record, need to make a journal. >_<
When we entered Starbucks, we saw the Starbucks employers. They are very kind and friendly. They make people feel very comfortable in there. Before start, they gave us a small cup of Espresso (Cappuccino with blended ice) coffee. It was so delicious. :-p
There are two classes of coffee, Arabica and Robusta. Starbucks uses Arabica coffee. They said that Arabica coffee is the best class of coffee. There are some reasons why they use Arabica coffee, it is more aromatic (have the unpredicted flavors), and high quality.
There are three best place to grow coffee; Latin America (like Mexico, South America, and Central America), Africa/Arabia (like Kenya), and the last one is Asia Pacific (like Indonesia (Sumatra and Papua New Guinea)).
I also learn how to taste the coffee, there are 4 steps:
1. Smell.....We cover the cup use three fingers
2. Slurp….. We slurp like when we eat Maggie Mie
3. Locate the experience in our tongue
4. Create a coffee description.
After teach us the steps, they gave us 4 kinds (Latin America, Sumatra, Espresso, and Robusta) original coffee, without put any sugar or milk. They wanted us used the steps to feel the differences between the 4 kinds of coffee. According to me, I prefer the Sumatra coffee, because it’s more favorable and the aroma is like coffee that I always drink at home.
After the lecture finished the presentation, they gave us door gifts, a Starbucks’s cup and a pack of Espresso Roast Coffee. I heard that value of the door gifts is least 50RM.
I have tried the coffee at home, it’s nice... ^_^
